ABOUT EYAGI PRODUCTIONS

Our Story

Eyagi Productions was conceived in 2019 when our Founder and Artistic Producer, YooRa Kang, had an idea to produce a musical theatre cabaret, where everyone involved would be paid for their work. It was a dream of hers to be able to provide an artistic space and opportunity for actors, who are often expected to provide their skills without compensation. So "Dreams: a Cabaret" was born, and after an overwhelmingly positive response and sold out show, Eyagi Productions went on to produce a second cabaret the following year. After selling out two cabarets and a staged concert version of Heathers: the Musical, YooRa was inspired to dream bigger. The company was set to produce the World Premier of a bilingual production of Next to Normal as well as a very special production of The Last Five Years in 2020... but we all know what happened in 2020!

During the hiatus, YooRa was working away on completing her program at Vancouver Film School. Here, she was introduced to a whole new medium of storytelling. While theatres shut down, and we were all hungry for live theatre, she was inspired to continue her passion for storytelling in mediums that were safe to explore.

Now, she wishes to navigate both mediums of storytelling to bring rich, engaging, and diverse stories to Vancouver and beyond.
